National Winter Trails Day


National Winter Trails DayJanuary 21, 2017

This year marks the 21th anniversary of National Winter Trails Day! It began as
a way to give people new to winter sports the opportunity to experience outdoor
recreation gear and enjoy snow-filled trails.

Glacier Nordic Club participates in this national event.

Where: Glacier Nordic Center at Whitefish Lake Golf Course
Hours: 11–3 pm

  • Free trail pass for cross-country skiing.
  • Free two-hour rental and demo for classic skis; limited skate skis available.
  • Free classic ski lessons. Learn the basics to get you going.
  • Free cookies, hot chocolate, and coffee.

Some Details

Lessons: 45 minute lessons offered at the top of every hour: 11am, Noon, 1pm, 2pm. If you’d like to reserve a spot for your lesson,
call the Glacier Nordic Center at 406.862.9498. Reservations appreciated but not necessary.

Rentals: Arrive 15 minutes prior to the lesson to get outfitted with skis, boots, and poles.

Free two-hour naturalist-led ski tour.  Led by local legend Dave Streeter, this tour meets at 11:00am and requires intermediate level ski skills.  Wear a pack to carry water and a snack and be prepared to add and shed layers of clothing to stay comfortable.
