2016 Great Fish Community Challenge

Use of Funds: Permanent Trailer for Ski Shop and site planning fees for a new winter trail head and trail at Big Mountain accessing Haskill Basin.

Thanks to last years Great Fish Challenge and our generous donors we now own our shop building.  The cost to move and store it each year is over $1500 which causes wear and tear on the building. Our plan is to mount it on its own trailer just like a tiny house for a one-time cost of  $7,500, eliminating the annual expense.

Together with Legacy Partners we are in the planning, engineering and design phase for a new North Haskill winter trail head and multi-use trail system designed for cross-country skiing.  This trail head and new trails will access the existing Haskill Basin and Big Mountain Nordic trails.  Our costs for the upcoming year will be about $10,000.   The proposed parking lot and access will be on Whitefish Mountain Resort property on Lookout Ridge.

How the Challenge Works

This two-month charitable giving campaign is completely managed by Whitefish Community Foundation. It processes all donations, designating 100% of your donation to Glacier Nordic Club. For each dollar you donate, Whitefish Community Foundation will award an additional percentage match on the first $15,000 we raise. Last year the match was 53%.

The Great Fish Community Challenge runs July 12–September 16, 2016.
