Fat Bikes, Snowshoes & Dogs

Fat Bikes

Fat bikes are not allowed on any of Glacier Nordic Club’s groomed trails (located at the Whitefish Lake Golf Course and Big Mountain Nordic Trails). The large ruts made by fat bikes are hazardous to x-c skiers and very difficult to remove.

The Flathead Valley has numerous places where you can ride your fat bike:

  • Whitefish Trails
  • Round Meadows
  • Herron Park
  • Smith Lake
  • Any snow-packed road. There’s lots of lightly traveled snow-packed roads in the West and East Valleys.

If you know of a great place to ride your fat bike and you’d like it added to this list, please leave a comment below.

Thanks very much for cleaning up after your pets. Please be sure to have a poop pick-up and disposal plan before you hit the trails! All you really need to do is ski behind your dog until it poops, then remove the poop with a stick! Sticks are in plentiful supply on the trails.
